Small Claims, Law, and Law Magistrate

A number of different Civil cases are heard in the Champaign County court system. A large number of those include cases in which a money judgment is sought. These cases can range from relatively small matters to matters including multiple parties. The amount of money in question dictates what case type is opened.

Small Claims – Includes money matters up to $10,000

Law Magistrate – Includes money matters from $10,000 – $50,000

Law – Inlcudes money matters in excess of $50,000
